Frequently Asked Questions

Can you use garlic powder instead of fresh?

I much prefer to use fresh garlic in this recipe, but powdered will work in a pinch and it will still be delicious! For this recipe, use half a teaspoon of garlic powder to replace the 2 cloves.

Can you just broil the muffins rather than bake them?

You can broil the muffins rather than bake them, but this will mean that the bottoms will stay soft. Oven baking them makes them crispy all over which means they are easier to hold and eat, plus you get a great crunch.

Can you make this recipe in an air fryer?

Yes! These come out great in the air fryer! Cook them at 400F / 200c for 3 to 5 minutes til done to your liking.

Serving Suggestions

English muffin garlic bread is a great addition to any meal, but works especially great with Italian dishes, or, enjoy as an appetizer with a delicious dip before your dinner. Try it with:

Make Ahead, Storage and Reheating

You can make up the garlic butter several days ahead of time and keep it covered in the fridge.

The English muffins are best enjoyed as soon as they’re ready so that they are nice and crispy, but they can be reheated in the oven.

Recipe Notes and Tips

  • You can half the amount of butter to reduce calories, though that’s something I would never do!
  • Break the English muffins open with a fork, rather than cut them open with a knife. They will have a crispier texture this way.
  • For best results, preheat the oven for an even cook and a crispy bite!
