Recipe Variations
These air fryer garlic pizza rolls are pretty tasty as they are! If you are gluten-free, you can use a GF pizza dough, and if vegan or dairy-free, use a plant-based butter. I love the parsley in the garlic butter, but you can try other fresh herbs like dill or cilantro.
Frequently Asked Questions
Fresh garlic is absolutely best to use, but in a pinch you can use garlic powder. 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder is equal to a clove of garlic, so a teaspoon of it will do the job.
I love how quick these are to cook in the air fryer, but you can oven bake them too. Place the pinwheels on a parchment lined baking sheet and cook in a preheated oven at 400F / 200c. Bake until golden brown, about 20 to 25 minutes.
When you roll out your pizza dough, it’s best for it to be at room temperature so that it’s more pliable. Once rolled up, chill it either quickly in the freezer, or in the fridge, before you cut it into pinwheels. Chilling the dough at this stage will make it easier to cut and the butter won’t melt as quickly when it cooks.

Recipe Notes and Tips
- Your pizza dough should be at room temperature when you roll it out. Let it sit on the countertop for 30 minutes to an hour before rolling.
- Pizza dough is very sticky, so flour your work surface well before rolling it out. It’s pretty stretchy, so use a mixture of a rolling pin and hand stretching to shape it.
- Preheat your air fryer before placing in the rolls. If your air fryer doesn’t have a preheat function, let it run at 400F / 200c for 5 minutes.
- Oil the bottom of your air fryer basket so that they don’t stick.
- Air fryer models can run slightly differently so cooking times may vary. The rolls are done when they are golden brown in color.
