Frequently Asked Questions

When are parsnips in season?

Parsnips are available in store pretty much all year round, but their peak season is from fall to spring. Early in the season they are smaller and once the weather gets colder they become larger and sweeter in flavor.

Can you oven roast them?

Yes! If you don’t have an air fryer then oven roasting is a great option, they just take a little while longer. Toss the parsnips in the oil and seasonings and then place them on a lined baking sheet. They will take around 30 to 40 minutes to roast and you should toss them halfway through.

Do you need to cook them in a single layer in the air fryer basket?

The parsnips should be as spaced out as they can be in the basket, though some overlapping is fine. If you are doubling the recipe, then it’s best to cook them in a couple of batches if you have a smaller air fryer. Toss them half way through cooking to help them brown evenly.
