Roasted baby potatoes have never been quicker or easier to make than with the air fryer. The take minutes to prep and cook quickly and you just need a few ingredients. With perfectly crispy edges and soft and buttery middles, they are perfect for any occasion!

This is probably the recipe I cook the most since I’ve gotten my air fryer. I’m a BIG lover of roast potatoes, but cooking them in the oven can be a fairly lengthy undertaking, so they’re not always perfect for a weeknight meal.

These air fryer baby potatoes are so much quicker to make, and still produces those wonderful crispy edges that we all know and love.

This potato side dish is tasty enough for an occasion meal, but easy enough to make whenever that roastie craving hits, and trust me, that’s quite a lot in our house!

Ingredients

  • Potatoes: Use baby potatoes for this recipe. Their thin skins crisp up nicely and the middles have a buttery and soft texture.
  • Seasonings: Garlic powder, salt and pepper.
  • Oil: Use a high heat neutral oil for this recipe. Vegetables, canola or avocado all work well.
  • Parsley: The cooked potatoes are garnished with fresh parsley. This is optional, but it adds a nice pop of color and a subtle fresh flavor.

Recipe Variations

The beauty of this recipe is that it’s so simple! You can easily add other seasonings to suit whatever meal you are serving them with; dried herbs, onion powder or chili flakes are all great additions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you make this recipe with larger potatoes?

This recipe will work well with larger potatoes like Yukon Gold or Russet. If the potatoes have thick skins, you may want to peel them first. Chop them into smaller chunks before seasoning and cooking. Depending on how big the potatoes are, they may take slightly longer to cook through, use a fork to check they are tender in the middle.

Can you make them ahead of time?

You can toss the potatoes in the oil and seasonings and few hours before you are ready to cook them and keep them covered in the fridge. Once cooked, the potatoes will keep well for around 3 to 4 days. Reheat them in the air fryer at 400F for 3 to 4 minutes to get them nice and crispy again.

How long does it take to cook baby potatoes in an air fryer?

These potatoes only take 15 minutes to cook and they come out with perfectly crispy edges. If you don’t have an air fryer, you can roast these in the oven instead at 400F and they will take around 25 to 30 minutes. To get them crispy, it’s best to heat a 4 tablespoons of oil in the oven, then add the seasoned potatoes to the hot oil. Toss them in it and be sure to flip them at least once during cooking so that they get crispy all over.

  • 10 ounces baby potatoes (285g)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • generous pinch of black pepper
  • 2 tablepoons oil
  • chopped parsley to garnish

Instructions

  • Pre heat the air fryer to 400F.
  • Wash and pat dry the potatoes, cut in half and add to a large bowl.
  • Add the garlic powder, salt, pepper and oil to the bowl and toss to combine. The potatoes should be well covered with the oil.
  • Place into the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  • Cook for 15 minutes, shaking the basket at 10 minutes, til golden brown and crispy.
