Pre heat the air fryer to 400F / 200c.
Slice off the roots and stems and peel the beets. Cut them into quarters through the middle and place them in a bowl.
Add in the sugar, garlic powder, salt and pepper and toss to combine.
Place in the air fryer basket in an even layer and set it to cook at 380F for 20 minutes.
Toss halfway through cooking.
Check the doneness of the beets, they should be fork tender but quite firm. Cook for another 5 minutes if required.
- Preheat the air fryer before adding them in. If your air fryer doesn't have a preheat function, set it to run at 400F for 5 minutes while you prep the beets.
- Give the basket a shake halfway through cooking so that they cook evenly.
- Air fryer models can run slightly differently so timings may beed to be adjusted. When cooked, the beets should be fork tender but still firm.
