Ingredients

  • 1 stick salted butter (113g)
  • 6 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped)
  • pinch salt and pepper
  • 16 ounces pizza dough (thawed) (454g)
  • flour for dusting
  • oil for brushing

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400F / 200c.
  • Mix together the butter, garlic, parsley and salt and pepper. Set to one side.
  • Dust a work surface with flour and roll out the pizza dough til fairly thin, about the thickness you'd roll it out for a thin crust pizza.
  • Cut circles out of the dough with a 3 inch circular cookie cutter.
  • Roll a tablespoon of the garlic butter into a ball and place in the center of each circle of pizza dough.
  • Stretch the sides of the dough over the butter ball and twist and pinch to seal.
  • Brush or rub oil over each dough ball and place on a parchment lined baking sheet.
  • Place in the oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let sit for a couple of minutes to cool before serving.

Notes

  • Soften the butter before mixing it with the garlic and parsley. I like to take it out of the fridge at least an hour before making these.
  • Don't worry if the pizza dough doesn't fully seal over the butter, it can be tricky to get it to hold in place. As long as it's wrapped up the sides and partly sealed they'll work out just fine.
  • I found the easiest method to seal the butter was to stretch the sides up, twist them together and then lightly press down.
  • Rotate the baking sheet halfway through baking so that they brown evenly.
  • Let the pizza dough garlic balls cool slightly before serving as the butter will be super hot.
  • Eat them over a plate to catch any garlic butter that wants to escape!
